Swan Hunter's once the most famous shipbuilder on Tyne is now being used as a film production centre. Last year the ITV production of the police drama 'Vera' starring Brenda Blethan was made here and now the feature film 'Flutter' a UK -Canadian production is underway. On February 6th six weeks of filming this sureal movie about greyhound racing got under way. Also on the stocks, in
pre-production is 'Joe Marstons War', one of very few
one-off period dramas commissioned for ITV1 in 2010, will
begin filming in Newcastle early in the New Year. All this is very good news for creative industry on Tyneside.

Last year we discovered that we have
been wiped off the official tourist maps of Newcastle and
Gateshead. A little ironic as the main map 'Walk' was
designed in our studios!. Our protest resulted in a Email
making it clear that Newcastle Arts Centre was officially
regarded as insignificant. Much expletives later we decided
to publish what is today the most up to date tourist map of
Central Newcastle. Over the next few months we will expand
this and integrate it with our popular Exhibitions

Shop' at 57 had been trading as Woolfes, a picture framer
and art materials dealer since 1924 and in 1982 we took it
over to acquire a presence on the street and a much needed
revenue stream. Back then we began as the smallest of seven
