Monument Monument is currently a place of conflict and severance. Pedestrians still have to compete with a major bus route across its northern side. Instead of being a safe haven in the heart of the City, it has become a polluted and untidy place. Although pedestrianised to the south, the lack of adequate seating, landscaping and high-quality surfacing detracts from its obvious potential as a focal point for shoppers, workers and street entertainers.
