Quayside The formation of a courtyard/square could provide a variety of complementary uses, including housing, shopping, workshops or use as a nursery. The space could be the catalyst for a new pedestrian-dominated area, providing a safer and more enjoyable city experience. It would generate further pedestrian access to other parts of the City, to the rest of the quayside and even to Gateshead beyond, via the imaginative new pedestrian bridge across the river to the Baltic Mill site.
